• I did a hotsync but no data was downloaded from the Palm, why?

If, during a HotSync, the “HotSync Progress” window pops-up but a “PowerTrac SP” or “PowerTrac DT synchronization” window does not show up, you would need to register the Palm Conduit which adds the PowerTrac software to the hotsync manager. This is normally done during the PowerTrac software installed on the computer.

Go to:

Start—>Programs—>PowerTrac—>Register Conduit SP (for a Powertrac SP)
or

Start—>Programs—>PowerTrac—>Register Conduit DT (for a Powertrac DT)

Registering the conduit will take only a few seconds and a “completion successful” notification should appear upon successful registration.

Note: The Palm Conduit automatically adds the PowerTrac software to the Palm Hotsync manager, which will allows for downloading data during the HotSync operation.

• I have performed a HotSync and downloaded files, but I can’t see the record(s) that I just downloaded, why?

1. If the PowerTrac software was open during the download, you may need to close the program and re-open it to be able to view your files.

2. If you still cannot find your files check to see that you are searching in the right directory. New downloads will automatically be placed in the default directory, which in most cases will be:

C:\Program Files\Power Designers\PowerTrac\PowerTracSPDB” database file.

3. If the files still seem to be lost, open the PowerTrac software, on the menu bar select Help then select About. If the version is 1.0.xx, the software is not compatible with the newest PowerTrac firmware. Download the newest revision PowerTrac windows software from the download section of the company website, install and re-attempt to download the data.

• My new data is not showing up in the database after downloading data from the Palm to the PC, why?

1. First, in the PowerTrac Synchronization window during a HotSync, you must make sure that the box next to the file you want to download was checked.

Note: Re-doing a download or HotSync will not corrupt anything.

2. Then select “Download”, a download status bar will appear on the bottom of the window. After this is complete, select “Exit Synchronization”.

3. Launch the PowerTrac Software (with the battery and power plug icon) and open the PowerTracSPDB file.

4. If you downloaded a particular file previously and have since downloaded more events, only this time with an _1 or an _2 ending, during HotSync, the PowerTrac software will only download data that have not been previously downloaded and will append the new data to previously downloaded data. The _1 and _2 extension will be dropped and the file will be shown with the original file name.

• While using the PowerTrac windows software, An “Active X component cannot create object” error message appears on the screen, why?

You need to reboot the machine if you get this error message.

• I can’t view the graphs in the PowerTrac windows software, why?

You must have either Microsoft Access installed on your PC or install the Access Runtime application that is included on the PowerTrac installation CD.

• Can I show high and low limits on the graphs?

Yes. After creating a chart and the chart is displayed on the screen, double-click on the gray area of the chart and select the “Limits” tab. Enter the desired limits to display.
